The Jet d'Eau on Lake Geneva with a rainbow in its spray

Where to Stay in Geneva

Geneva wraps around the end of its lake, where the Rhône flows out. The right bank has the station, the grand lakefront hotels and Pâquis; the left bank has the Old Town and the shopping streets.

The Short Answer

Stay on the right-bank lakefront, along the Quai du Mont-Blanc, for the classic Geneva view of the lake, the Jet d'Eau and, on clear days, Mont Blanc. Cornavin station is a 10-minute walk away, and the Old Town is across the bridges. Our pick is the Beau-Rivage, family-run since 1865.

Stay in Pâquis, the blocks between the station and the lake, for cheaper hotels and restaurants from every corner of the world. Stay next to Cornavin if you are catching early trains, in the Old Town for quiet lanes and character, or at the airport only for a very early flight.
